The Alleluia Community

What is a Christian Community?

Christian Community Comes Alive!
"I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10) Jesus Christ called Christians to live a full Christian life. Christian community is a place where people are lead by the Spirit of God to make loving, faithful and accountable commitments to other Christians. It is the place where service, love and care, in the name of Jesus, become a way of life. Many people experience community through their church or para-church organization (Cursillo, Emmaus, Promise Keepers, etc). This site is about Christians who have taken the next step of living a Christian Life together.

Part of the fullness of our life comes from theses important features of Christian community living as practiced daily by members of Alleluia:

Commitment - Members of Alleluia Community are committed first to Jesus Christ, and second to their own church and tradition (Protestant or Catholic). More than ten denominations are represented by members of Alleluia Community. Despite their differences in theology, community members are united on these basics of their faith:

  • the diety and lordship of Jesus Christ.
  • the authority of Holy Scriptures and the significance of the church as the bride of Christ.
  • The need for every Christian to repent of their sins, be baptized, and seek to live a Spirit-filled life that is holy and pleasing to God.
  • The need of every Christian and Christian family to be obedient to Jesus Christ and to live daily in the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Family - Members of Alleluia Community believe that the natural family is God's handiwork and should be both encouraged and protected. Because they hold reverence and respect for God's plan for marriages, members of Alleluia are in every sense "pro-life," "pro-marriage," and "pro-family."

Extended Family - Singles and families of Alleluia seek to actually serve as "adopted, extended family" for each other. Community members agree to support each other in a fashion similar to that experienced by the traditional, multi-generational families of the past. The joyful, daily life in Alleluia approximates an ongoing "family reunion." Another way inwhich we live as an extended family is through the sharing of goods. If one of our brothers or sisters is in need, we see that the need is met. This may mean lending your lawn mower so that your neighbor can cut the grass, lending your van so that a family can take a vacation in a reliable vehicle, or making a meal for a family with a new baby. We are so blessed to have opportunities to share God's blessings with one another.

Accountability - The Alleluia Community Believes that Christians should be truthfully accountable for the witness for Jesus Christ and for their faithfulness to their own professed doctrinal beliefs. As a result, everyone in Alleluia is encouraged to grow and mature in areas of fellowship, prayer, study, finances, evangelization and social action. Each Person is equipped to live and work effectively "in the world," but still not be "of the world."

Christian World View - Members of Alleluia are actively involved in promoting a world view which is founded on Biblical Truth. This is best done by maintaining a daily, practical alternatice to the materialistic and slef-centered culture of today.

Education - The Alleluia Community has placed Christian educationa and formation near the center of community life. Although excellence is a primary goal for academics, sports and arts in the K-12 Alleluia Community School, it is the formation of Christian character that is esteemed most highly. A two-year teaching and formation program instructs new, adult members on the basics of Christian living.

Committed Personal Relationships - Typical friendships in Alleluia cross denominational, racial, educational, and economic barriers. Through study groups, fellowship, support groups, ministry and service teams, members of Alleluia learn how to live and work together for the Glory of God.
